FROM THE PRESIDENT

Its that time of year again; Election time. Our annual meeting this year will be on held on January 12, 8:00 PM. All members welcome, and encouraged to come.    As per our TSC by-law requirement, December 23rd was the final day to sign up and run for the board. That day came and went.   No signatures, other than existing board members seeking another term.    This is a real shame. Not only will this leave vacancies on the board, but it increases the work load for the board members now serving.

TSC has one of the most diverse shooting programs, the best clubhouse, and we are one of the largest landowners of any Sportsman’s club for counties around. Servicing the members of this club with an all volunteer workforce is daunting, yet, it still gets done.   The big question is how well and in what areas.

Like any other volunteer workforce, this is not our primary job. Many hands make light work, and many hands we don’t have.   We can cover the bases, and I think we do.   But I believe we can and should be doing better then that.   To accomplish better things, we need more diversity on our board. We are a shooting club. We need shooters on our board. Trap, Skeet, Rifle.   Advocates serving on our board tend to better their sport. Look at our pistol program.   Its booming. We have avid and motivated pistol shooters on our board. Coincidence? No way.   A trap shooter on the board of directors becomes the voice of Trap. A Skeet shooter on our board becomes the voice of Skeet.   You don’t have to be a professional. Just an avid shooter, and an advocate in your discipline with motivation. I don’t believe The aforementioned programs are in decline, but there numbers are flat. With someone on the board focusing on their favorite sport, we will get optimum results and build the programs this club deserves to have. Without, I’m afraid these numbers will stay flat.

The good news is that you still can run. 10 signatures from club members before our meeting gets underway January 12th puts you on the ballot. Please consider it. We need your help. Please direct any questions to Charlie Schott, Chairman of the Election Committee. (See his article within)
